Coaching Centers and Over-strained Children
By N Saikia
Everyone in the modern
world is in a race. They race to achieve fast success or to move a step ahead
of the person standing next to him or her. So, this modern world brings a fast
forwarded life. Here, people don’t have time to stand and stare at things
around. Kids hardly find time to rest and play. Since their childhood
they’re brought up like a machine.
Parents can hardly
spare time for their kids. So, they go on searching an alternative to
compensate. They arrange a nanny at home to look after the child and help in
household needs. Then, a private tutor to help in academics or else he or she
is sent to coaching institutes. They believe school education is not sufficient
to achieve a successful career. Therefore, they force them to attend coaching
classes to get some extra marks at the cost of little extra effort, money and time.
On
the other hand a class of business minded people makes profit out of this.
Tuition classes of past are now turned into full furnished coaching institutes.
Tuition classes of old days are now full flanges coaching institutes. They
unlike old day’s tutors demand lump sum money. There is no coaching center who
would not guarantee success of children. And the poor parents! They are trapped
in the bait offered by the coaching institutes. But they fail to realize their
own children’s abilities and capabilities. They impose their dreams on their
children and make them work harder than ever. So, they simply put them in the
best coaching center available. This attitude of parents encourages growing
coaching culture of this generation. They think simply attending regular
schools isn't enough to be successful. Until he or she is put into a coaching
class he or she isn't going to perform well.
As a result children
are busier than early days. Since morning to late afternoon they attend school
and after school they go to coaching classes. Even then their work is not
finished. Some over ambitious parents force them to attend classes for
co-curricular activities too. Besides they have their homework to finish before
starting for school next day. But time is limited. So they barely find time to
play. And struggle hard to balance time among different activities.
Our
work efficiency is directly proportional to our leisure. Our brain needs rest
to perform well. So, often children fail to perform well in exam. But their
parents when don’t get a satisfactory result after spending thousands of money
in their coaching instead of understanding their problems double their work
load and coaching classes.
But
this work pressure may harm children’s delicate brain and mind. They may
undergo depression, insomnia or other psychological disorders. So, as a
conscious parent and teacher we should try to be friendly and minimize their
problems instead of enhancing it. We should try to comfort and encourage
them.
